take action
Committees are open to all Northside AFT members and they take on the powerful work of our union.

Issues and advocacy
The Issues and Advocacy committee of Northside AFT takes on the responsibility of running district-wide campaigns to better conditions for teachers and staff across Northside ISD. From teachers' pay to retention bonuses, this committee organizes around the issues that most affect us. If you want to join this powerful group, please reach out Noah Talarico to join!
Building Rep
Building Representatives are leaders on each campus. They are the people you turn to when you need help, and they also make sure members at their schools have the most up-to-date information about union activities. The Building Rep committee interacts with the building reps on each campus and ensures they have all the tools and training they need. Please reach out to committee chair, Katie Curtis to join!

Communications
Communication is the backbone of organizing, and the Communications Committee knows that well. From social media to newsletters to flyers, the Communications Committee keeps our union family informed. If you are a whiz at social media or want to get more involved in getting the word out, please reach out to committee chair Natasha Thurmon to join!
Professional Development
The landscape of teaching is rapidly changing and Northside AFT members are always on the cutting edge. The Professional Development Committee coordinates trainings and other PD for teachers and staff across the district. Please contact Carol Villarreal to join!

cope
COPE is our Committee on Political Education. COPE coordinates all the political and electoral work for the union. Your COPE dollars fund NAFT's political activity and the COPE committee decides how to utilize that funding. Please contact Haroon Monis to join!
